Kayaking on Coyote Creek
I wanted to get out for some local kayaking but didn't want to go too far or to a place that would be rather busy, so I hit the map looking for a spot. I need something that I could get to after work and still have enough time to enjoy myself and make it worth the effort. Luckily, it wasn't too hard to find something. Just south of Fern Ridge Reservoir is one of its tributaries, Coyote Creek. It's a slow meandering creek that makes you feel like you're a hundred miles away from the closest town... until you pass under Highway 126. Two things I wish I knew before leaving, the first being to take it easy when you are new to kayaking, I ended up going too far and wasn't prepared for the soreness the next day! The second, bring bug spray, these slow creeks are a haven for mosquitoes.
