Brittany and I being co-owners of our business, it makes it very difficult to get away for a break at the same time. After putting off for a while, we finally decided the only time we would be ready was the time we made. So a few months back we bought our tickets to Hawaii and decided we will make it work. Brittany prefers to relax on a vacation where I like to see things and explore, so we decided to visit Maui and get a quiet place on the north end where she could relax, and I could still explore and see the National Park.
We opted to fly into Hawaii as early as possible to squeeze an extra day out of our trip landing around 1 in the afternoon. First thing I noticed was the wild chickens and the humidity. Once we got to our place, a timeshare condo type deal, Brittany started making plans for some food, and I immediately went out exploring the ocean.
Though it was all by accident, we had two things in our favor for where we were staying. First, we didn't have a beach, the closest beach was maybe a third of a mile away by foot, in front of us was gnarly lava rock. These rocks were excellent because it kept the area quiet and only people staying nearby were around. Second, last season a big storm washed up a 'secret' little beach a stone's throw from our door that sea turtles designated as their sunbathing spot. I'd never seen a sea turtle before, let alone stayed so close to them. At one point we counted 20 turtles on the beach, to say the least, we're stoked.
